To Dada

It has been an emotional day for a cricket fanatic like me as I watch the Goodbye Ganguly programs glorifying the Prince of Calcutta as he quits.Saurav Ganguly announced his retirement from international cricket with the current oz series being the last.
Watching Ganguly caress the cherry on the offside is a treat to the eyes and as Geoff Boycott would say " Next to God its Saurav Gaanguly on the offside".Ganguly was one of those cricketers who got going when the going got tough and in more than one occassions got the Indian team going .
From nowhere to a Century on debut at Lord's ,mastering in the One day game as an opener and being in the league of Sachin-lara-MarkWaugh-Jayasurya-Anwar ,Sahara cup wins, winning the Natwest trophy,World cup 2003 finals, 100 at the gabba and wins abroad at Australia,South Africa, Pakistan,West Indies he lead the team to great glories.
Call him arrogant, violent but he instilled the spirit in the young Indian side , backed youngsters with constant support and that made the world look up to him when Team India fought well.
He had his share of controversies and low points which I feel is part and parcel of the game.
In spite of his performances I felt that he was under constant scrutiny but the Toast of Bengal weathered it all in style with his long awaited Century at Eden Gardens against Pakistan being one of those wonderful moments. Hes still in contract with the Kolkata Knightriders in IPL and hope his magic continues there.
I am very happy that Dada played cricket at the time I am following the game .
Good Bye Saurav !!!!
