Gmail and gmail chat

Innovation is Googles USP and it is vivid in Googles products.Gmail is a good product (though still in beta). They followed it up with Gmail chat by integrating google talk with gmail .though u cant do voice chat it is still very useful.Google then started supporting Mozilla Firefox the open source browser(My favorite and of course for millions of Firefox users) by providing Firefox support for its toolbar and stuff. All google products work with no probs in Firefox.
Talking about Gmail and Firefox two extensions that caught my attention were Gmailchatalert and gmailskins.
In gmail chat the alert that the buddy other end has sent u a new message can be identified by the change of text in the taskbar(browser title rather) if the window is minimised.sometimes if there are too many windows open or u r busy with something else or u have enabled the taskbar autohide property enabled the alert wont really work.So i was wondering if there was a sound alert for this. And the solution is the Gmail chat alert extension which works great.
The gmail skin is more of a fancy thing where u can change the visual settings of ur gmail page like changing the color, moving the vertical orientation of tabs to horizontal etc by changing the css.I just wanted to try it.It worked ok.But a few color themes werent great and it also affects the screen while composing mails .so not so great.

check this out

NO updates for some time...
check this out Actress "Shriya" has created history......
well not really ..Shes already making waves as the next SuperStar jodi .And shes paired against Dhanush the mapillay of Rajnikanth.. for a movie called 'Thiruvilayadal' which has the same name as that of the lengendary Chevalier shivaji ganesan starrer-got into some kinda controversy for this reason.Neways shriya has now got an unique distinction. If i am not wrong mebbe yesteryear(well can say so)dream girl Sridevi must have made the distinction of acting with father and son Nageswara rao and Nagarjuna in the telugu movie scene.

Siru pulla thanama irukku-- Think simple

Firefox behaved crazily today.what happened was when i was browsing as usual (where else blogger than tryin to post a coment in some ones blog) i did some mouse gesture i dono what it meant, it opened up many tabs and another extension called 'superT' probably screwed up a bit more.see the pic to c how many tabs it opened.Siru pulla thanama irukku.

As stupid i am i was wondering what to do and closed Firefox and restarted it and thanks to the two wonderful (no sarcasm involved)extensions crash recovery and sessionsaver all the tabs opened again to my agony. Then as a next step i uninstalled firefox and reinstalled .no respite coz these extensions were just too good. I unistalled/disabled(new feature in FF 1.5) them and nothing really happened.
And finally how did resolve this ...think for simpler options And here i go right click a tab and select close other tabs option and the problem is solved .:).

Todays post

When a page loads i normally keep looking at the status bar of the browser which shows the perentage of the page that has loaded and the images etc.Today as i was browsing in Firefox (which i prefer)the status bar showed the precent completed as 319% and i was surprised as normally it stands anywhere between 0 and 100.I really donno whether something is really true with this happening or any clumsy extension that i have installed caused this. If someone knows about it do lemme know.screenshot of the status bar below.
Then i was listening to the song "LLa LLa LLa" from the movie "Poi" sung by the Great SPB.It was pretty good , a lil different where the singer repeats a tamil alphabet more number of times.

Competition

Theres no place in the world where theres no competition .Read in a recent issue of Fortune magazine that competitiveness in getting into the Indian IT Major Infosys Technologies is more than getting admission into the Harvard university, known for its scrutiny of applications and was surprised. The convert percentage in the case of Infosys was 1% whereas in the case of Harvard it was 9%. But the difference came in terms of population 1.3 million applicants @ Infy and a far lesser in the case of Harvard.so thought the statistics was kinda misleading but felt happy about this piece of information though.

Tags....

Well some time back only stuff I could relate to the word 'tag' was html. Tags were supposed to be some coding fundae in html.then other tags i could imagine were .....

pet animals were given a nice collar round their neck with a small tag. even dogs in govt kennels had tags.i guess..
scientists used to tag dolphins and birds in order to trace their whereabouts.

Now so many blogs have posts titled 'tagged' which is basically a chain reaction kinda stuff wherein a fellow blogger posts something related to a particular thing and then prompts his blogger pals to do something similar.

And last but not least there are several young men and women roam around in India -whats so special- they all sport a tag around their neck. The only difference being the color and text in those tags. They all fall in the category of MNC coolies and what are those tags for ?well to identify their whereabouts.

does one see some kinda similarity in all these cases well i see something...

Youtube

Youtube video sharing is getting popular by the day. And if u wanna save ur favorite you tube videos there is a greasemonkey script which enables you in doing that.(You need firefox for running the script. theres an IE option also)

What a software engineer really wants!!!

An ambitious software engineer finally decided to take a vacation. He booked himself on a Caribbean cruise and proceeded to have the time of his life. At least for a while.

A hurricane came up unexpectedly. The ship went down and was lost instantly. The man found himself swept up on the shores of an island with no other people, no supplies, nothing. Only bananas and coconuts.

Used to five-star hotels, this guy had no idea what to do. So, for the next four months he ate bananas, drank coconut juice, longed for his old life, and fixed his gaze on the sea, hoping to spot a rescue ship.

One day, as he was lying on the beach, he spotted movement out of the corner of his eye. It was a rowboat, and in it was the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen. She rowed up to him.

In disbelief, he asked her: "Where did you come from, and how did you get here?"

"I rowed from the other side of the island," she said.
"I landed here when my cruise ship sank."

"Amazing," the software engineer said, "I didn't know anyone else had survived. How many of you are there? You were really lucky to have a rowboat wash up with you."

"It's only me," she said, "and the rowboat didn't wash up: nothing did."

He was confused, "Then how did you get the rowboat?"

"Oh, simple," replied the woman. "I made it out of raw material that I found on the island. The oars were whittled from gum-tree branches, I wove the bottom from palm branches, and the sides and stern came from a eucalyptus tree."

"But, but, that's impossible," stuttered the man. "You had no tools or hardware - how did you manage?"

"Oh, that was no problem," the woman said. "On the south side of the island, there is a very unusual strata of exposed alluvial rock. I found that if I fired it to a certain temperature, it melted into forgeable ductile iron. I used that to make tools, and used the tools to make the hardware. But enough of that. Where do you live?"

Sheepishly, the man confessed that he had been sleeping on the beach the whole time.

"Well, let's row over to my place then," she said.

After a few minutes of rowing, she docked the boat at a small wharf. As the man looked onto shore, he nearly fell out of the boat. Before him was a stone walk leading to an exquisite bungalow painted in blue and white.

While the woman tied up the rowboat with an expertly woven hemp rope, the man could only stare ahead, dumbstruck.

As they walked into the house, she said casually, "It's not much, but I call it home. Sit down, please. Would you like to have a drink?"

"No, no, thank you," he said, still dazed. "I couldn't drink another drop of coconut juice."

"It's not coconut juice," the woman replied. "I have made a still - How about a Pinacolada?"

Trying to hide his continued amazement, the software engineer accepted, and they sat down on her couch to talk.

After they had exchanged their stories, the woman announced, "I'm going to slip into something more comfortable. Would you like to have a shower and a shave? There is a razor upstairs in the cabinet in the bathroom."

No longer questioning anything, the man went into the bathroom. There in the cabinet was a razor made from a bone handle. Two shells honed to a hollow-ground edge were fastened to its tip, inside a swivel mechanism.

"This woman is absolutely amazing," he mused. "What next?"

When he returned, the woman greeted him. She beckoned for him to sit down next to her. "Tell me," she began suggestively, slithering closer to him, brushing her leg against his, "We've both been out here for a very long time. You've been lonely. There's something I'm sure you really feel like doing right now, something you've been longing to do for all of these months."

She stared into his eyes. He couldn't believe what he was hearing - this was like all of his dreams coming true in one day.

"You mean...," he replied, "I can check my e-mail from here?"

Romantic look

check it out ..

konjam music

I listen to very limited variety of music which is normally filmi and carnatic and off late some carnatic fusion(vocal and instrumental).Listening to English music is very limited.Happened to listen to the latest tamil songs from the films namely Godfather and pattiyal.
Godfather , an ARR musical and it speaks. The songs i felt were pretty good(ok) mebbe not so catchy at the first instance as Rang De Basanti.Well ARR has made the remixes of the original numbers as part of the album and they are pretty good and then the feeling song Theeyil.. sung by Rehman( typical soulful Rehman) is a good one.
The other album Pattyial is a Yuvan musical and this team is same as that of a hit movie of 2005 , Arindum Ariyamalum.so evinced some interest and the music doesnt dissapoint actually. The songs are a mix of western and folk style if u can say so.There is a rap number as well. And more importantly there is a song sung by Maestro Ilayaraja which i think is more of a peppy item number which also sounds like a remix. The album as such is isnt bad.
I liked em and mebbe comment like Goundamani"enna saangu(song)enna measiku(music)"

Symonds the best fielder

only After watching Jonty Rhodes fly ..err. field in the world cup 1992 we all came to know that fielding can also be done this way and its an important aspect of the one day game.who can forget the Rhodes mid air run out of wasim akram .(that sportstar poster was so hot those days ).now the god of modern day fielding Jonty Rhodes himself has proclaimed that the Aussie all rounder Andrew symonds is the best fielder today and is 10 times better than Jonty himself.that was so humble of him.
